Bow Shackles Views
Being ready for an emergency is always preferable to having an emergency and not being prepared. When you are considering a need for rigging equipment such as bow shackles, lifting slings, recovery tow straps, hooks, chains and cable, many people avoid planning ahead of their needs. Instead, they hope they will be able to find the right equipment when the need arises. But what happens if you find yourself in a remote area and access to such equipment is not readily available? This is a consideration for truck owners that enjoy muddin' or four wheeling in off road areas. Of course we all believe that our truck dominates and will out run and out maneuver any deep hole or ravine. But ask any stuck truck, and you will know that domination is not always the reality. In these instances, it's a good idea to have equipment available.
So what exactly should you plan to have with you when you take an off-roading trip? Aside from the cooler of beer and water, why not throw in some cable, tie downs, recovery straps and bow shackles. The cool beverages may be able to keep the heat from rising to your face when you are stuck, but they are not going to get your truck out of the mud.
Receiver hitch shackle: This item will hook up to the ball of the pull vehicle to assist in the recovery. Recovery tow strap: The nylon recovery straps allow for some stretching which is important. That stretching ability actually gives momentum to the tug and will make it easier to get your truck out. Be sure to check the break points and know your vehicles weight so that you choose the correct recovery strap. Bow Shackles or other strong shackle: If you are not sure which type of shackle will work best, any good cargo company can assist you with the information. Don't be afraid to invest in the larger shackles, at least 2 inches, since you want it to withstand the job of pulling out a vehicle.
