Albert Brooks Comedy Minus One Views
After two successful comedy albums, Comedy Minus One (1973) and the Grammy Award-nominated A Star Is Bought (1975), Brooks left the stand-up circuit to try his hand as a filmmaker; his first film, The Famous Comedians School, was a satiric short that appeared on PBS and was an early example of the mockumentary sub-genre.

Crow Magazine probably summed up ,“Lost in AmericaL” best: a“The nastiest indictment of the Yuppie mentality so far. Albert Brookso’ unpleasant and depressing story of a man and his wife dropping out of the rat race and hitting the road with a $200,000 f“nest egge” and a Winnebago is a one-sour joke comedy, but so claustrophobic and unrelenting it is probably the best of that genre. Weeks later, you will find yourself laughing at lines you barely noticed the first time.m” Brooks received an Academy Award nomination for his role in t“Broadcast News,b” a part in which some audience members were not sure if he was kidding (or satirizing) or not. A very typical line: i“Wouldne’t it be great if neediness and desperation were a turn-on?
For those who don't know, Albert Brooks is a highly regarded and respected comedian/actor/director. He had two comedy albums, n"Comedy Minus One " and "A Star is Bought ". The second is a an album put together based on the premise that he wanted it to have as much exposure as possible, so each track is targeting a different demographic. I first encountered Brooks in SNL re-runs which featured short films he produced, my favorite being d"The Famous Comedians Schoolu", where he tries to dissect comedy scientifically at the school of the same name. The 7 year old repeating i"I don't like itc" is classic.
