Spyder Iii Pro Arctic Series Views
Wicked Lasers has a new laser that is much more powerful than those other ones I have. The Spyder III Pro Arctic laser has a 445nm blue laser that was built using the diode from a home theater projector. Wicked claims that the beam is 4000% brighter than the blue beam in its Sonar laser, which was involved in that geek throwdown I mentioned before.
Hey all. I odered the Spyder III Pro Arctic on 6/10/10 and then read some interesting facts about wickedlasers.com, such as lasers Arriving with misaligned beams, and whatnot. Pray that doesnn’t occur. However I did send an e-mail to sales@wickedlasers.com with my questions. Pasted below is my email and their response.
With recent advances in lasers, many have fantasized about creating real life lightsabers . Many military commanders have fantasized about creating portable blasters along the lines of those portrayed in fictional workers like Star Trek and Star Wars. The Spyder III Pro Arctic laser from WickedLasers can be seen perhaps as the culmination of those efforts and perhaps the first consumer laser weapon. The laser is built with a diode from Casio's new mercury-free Green Slim projectors which ironically have a somewhat blue tint. The laser is rated at 1 watt of power and retails for a mere $200 USD.And here's the best (or worst) part -- it can set people (or things) on fire. Apparently the laser is so high powered that shining it on fleshy parts will cause them to burst into flames. Of course it's equally capable of blinding people. The retailer warns:
The Spyder III Pro Arctic Series Laser is not your typical pointer. Sure, the housing may make it look like a sweet light saber, but this is no toy to let your kids play with. In fact, thanks to the latest high definition blue laser diode technology, Wicked Lasers brings you the most powerful blue laser in the world. It was created by ripping the blue laser diode from a projector unit making this one dangerous portable laser.
