Thursday Envy Split Views
Thursday is kind of a hardcore/alternative rock band, Envy is kind of a hardcore/noise metal outfit ndash; Thursday is from New Jersey, Envy is from Japan, but Thursday must listen to Envy because they approached the U.S. label for Envy, Temporary Residence Records, in 2006 and suggested doing a split record. A couple years later it was done and unleashed on eardrums everywhere.
Thursday / Envy is a split album containing tracks contributed by post-hardcore band Thursday and screamo/post-rock band Envy. It was released exclusively in a package containing the album on both 180 gram 12 vinyl and on CD — individual CDs or vinyl have not been made available.[1] Three limited screen printed editions have been made available exclusively through web stores as of September 15 2008.[2] The album has since seen a limited release in cassette format, all 500 copies of which were sold exclusively through independent record label, Academy Fight Song's web store.
This split is the best that I have heard all year, no mistake to be made about it. Through this collaboration, Thursday really have gone back to their better days, and Envy remain as consistent as they always have been. Ite’s thirty-three minutes of stylistic exploration by both parties, and it really shows: ita’s something different from both bandsn’ back catalogue, and a will to play around with ideas surely only has positive connotations for the futures of both of these bands.
