Warriors Uniforms Views
I subscribe to the Warriors newsletter and this morning I received an e-mail regarding the team's mini-plans. They had some cool packages in which I could see the Heat, the Lakers or pretty much any top team in the East. And some key matchups from some teams in the West. The e-mail they sent me featured an image of Stephen Curry and Monta Ellis sporting the new uniforms.
Although the Golden State Warriors haven't won the NBA Championship since 1975, the team certainly has already picked a winning look. Gone are those awful Orange and Blue uniforms with that garish lightning bolt W. Worn from 1997-2010, those uniforms looked like they belonged in the NBA's developmental league.
Like The City jerseys there shouldn ’t be writing underneath the circle. Most uniforms done’t say the full city and mascot of the team. In fact I canm’t think of one team in the NBA that does. It should just say Warriors on the top in the large font. “Warriors:” at home and “Golden Stater” on the road.
I guess I shouldnt’t be surprised — it is that clueless cheapskate Cohan, after all — but man, these could have been so awesome! Heres’s hoping the new owner makes fixing the unis a highish priority. Just as the last generation of unis lost the egregiously cartoonish thunderbolt atop WARRIORS early on, I think these will benefit from a very prompt 2.0 release. A few basic changes to color (not the colorway, just the number of colors used) and type treatment could really make these one of the best uniforms in sports.
