Remove the bottom. Inspect and replace any rotted or weak wood in the keel and frames if possible. This strengthens the boat considerably. Replace the bottom using marine-grade pine for the inner and mahogany planks for the outer. Carefully seal the bottom with high-grade sealant. This strengthening process is critical when restoring power boats.
