Mrs May Views
Nuts are a perfect way to get a little bit of sweetness with a ton of protein. But sometimes, when you buy a bag of trail mix or mixed nuts, they ’re coated in high-fructose corn syrup and preservatives or mixed with bits of candy. We found a sweet nutty treat that (dare we say it) even our beloved Michael Pollan would let us eat: Mrs. Mayd’s Naturals Almond Crunch.
These bars were a gift from some friends as a trade-off for helping review their website for usability. I was happy to learn Costco carries these bars because I used to get the little bite-sized squares by Mrs. May's of crunchy peanuts and dried strawberries. They were so good. These bars are just as delightful and just as crunchy. I had a strawberry one when Paul had the blueberry one pictured above. Also, there is a cranberry and tropical variety.
Why is it that Mrs. May's bars are made in China? Is it really that much cheaper? I wouldn't feed my dog products from China, why would I then eat such products myslef? Can we really trust the Chinese to produce safe, enviornmentally friendly products? I'll take my Mrs. May's bars back to Costco! No thanks!
If you do a Google Search for Mrs. May's in China, you will see many opinions and reviews. As with most choices, your opinion of cost, environment, and China in the news all play into whether or not you would purchase or eat the bars. If you aren't sure, consider finding another item because there are many out there. I hope this answers your questions.
